BT Sport commentators stunned by ‘outstanding’ save by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford produced an ‘outstanding’ save that left BT Sport commentators Darren Fletcher and Martin Keown stunned against Manchester United.

Pickford started in goal once again for the Toffees and was tested early by Marcus Rashford, before a header later in the half forced him into an excellent reaction save from the same forward.

The 28-year-old got down to his right very quickly and parried the ball out of danger, with the BT Sport commentators drooling over it.

“Good save, that’s outstanding from Pickford,” Fletcher said.

“Really, really good save, the second one of the match from the Everton goalkeeper.”

“Absolutely top drawer from Pickford,” Keown continued.

“The way that he reads this and gets down, it’s a truly outstanding save.”

Excellent

Pickford has been a constant good performer even in this shoddy run of form that the club have been in, and he showed it again here.

His performances with England have shown what a good goalkeeper he can be and while the Toffees continue to struggle defensively, there’s only so much he can do.

Keown and Fletcher were spot on to praise him heavily for the save, because it was a sure-fire goal without his intervention and we’ve seen how the team react to going a goal down in recent weeks.

Instead they were able to stay in the game and go on to take a 1-0 lead thanks to Anthony Gordon’s deflected strike midway through the half.

He provides a perfect foundation to build off for Frank Lampard’s side and is rightly being praised for his efforts to ensure that Everton have the best possible chance of survival.
