Michael Owen predicts result of Everton clash v Manchester United

Michael Owen believes Frank Lampard has a ‘massive’ job on his hands to keep Everton up as he predicted the result of their clash against Manchester United.

The Toffees were defeated by Burnley in midweek despite leading 2-1 at one point, leaving them just one point above the drop zone with nine games remaining.

Owen described the defeat as a ‘disaster’, but believes the Goodison Park crowd can be decisive in their push for survival and told BetVictor that he thinks they’ll secure a 1-1 draw.

“Wednesday’s defeat to Burnley was a disaster,” he said.

“The pressure and mood around the club can’t be good at all right now, Frank Lampard has a massive job on his hands. I’ve said it all along, Goodison Park will determine Everton’s destiny this season. They’ll need every point they can get at home.

“It says it all that United’s draw against Leicester last week wasn’t even surprising. Their form has just been so inconsistent, and it feels like this season is just drifting away. The lack of goals in the side is a worry. With all the attacking quality they have, they shouldn’t be struggling to put it in the net.

“I think the fans will really be up for this, they know how much trouble this side is in. Goodison can be such a difficult place for away teams when the fans are like that. I’m going for a 1-1 draw.”

Inconsistency

This has been a really horrible season for Everton and their fans, and it’s nearly over. But they want a happy ending and need points for that.

While they have a horrible run-in, if they could pick a top team to come up against right now it would be Man United because of how inconsistent they have been too.

United have got nothing to play for right now, with their top four chances deflated after several poor results, but they don’t lose games often and that will be troublesome for the blues.

Their recent record against United is good and the fans will be lively knowing the current situation, which is exactly what has helped them to wins there in the recent past.

They will need it again, but it’s not the home form that’s the worry right now. A draw is realistic, a win would be ideal.
