Dele Alli should take his own advice to be a success at Everton

Considering he is yet to start a game for Everton since his January arrival, Dele Alli hasn’t been shy to offer advice to his fellow footballers.

The 25-year-old has been a huge flop at Goodison Park so far and has done little to nothing to try and get his career back on track while on Merseyside.

But it was Southampton full-back Kyle Walker-Peters’ birthday yesterday, one of Alli’s good friends in football, and the Toffees player had some advice for his former Tottenham teammate.

In an Instagram post dedicated to his fellow 25-year-old, Alli said: “Keep shining and doing what they said you couldn’t.”

Profound advice indeed but this raises the question as to why he isn’t doing this himself.

Right now, Alli has got the media coming at him from all angles saying he isn’t capable of doing this and that but he isn’t doing much to change these preconceptions about him.

We all know he does have the ability within him somewhere having seen him turn up in the Premier League and tear teams to pieces during his prime years at Spurs but things have gone so far downhill he can no longer see the summit.

At 25 years of age, he should be reaching his peak as a player but it’s like he has already fallen off the cliff that most payers don’t hit until they’re well into their 30s.

There is still a future for him at Everton despite his rocky start though and if he seeks to take on his own advice that he’s dished out to Walker-Peters, then he could find himself against and be the player that Toffees everywhere were hoping to see at Goodison Park.

In other Everton news, the club are holding off on a major announcement due to their ongoing Premier League relegation battle.
