Neil Warnock says Frank Lampard is making a ‘mistake’ by criticising Everton players publicly
Neil Warnock believes Frank Lampard should bite his tongue and stop criticising Everton players in public, claiming he is ‘making a mistake’.
Lampard blasted his players and questioned if they had the “b*******” for the relegation fight, before the team’s massive 1-0 win over Manchester United last week.
But while speaking on the Gary Newbon Sports Show with Jewson, former Premier League boss Warnock shared that he feels Lampard has to tell some white lies to get over the line before making big decisions in the summer.

“I don’t think you get anywhere team wise by criticising players in public,” he said.
“Frank Lampard is slightly making a mistake at the moment by going public when you really need to be getting through to the end of the season in Frank’s case and make sure you stay up.
“I don’t think criticising his players in public is going to help him in that and that’s just experience to which he’ll learn from it.
“You’ve got to put your arm round them tell them how good they are and make them feel how good they are knowing in the back of your mind that you’re going to get rid of them in two months time.
“But it is the next two months which will keep you up.”

By any means
Everton need to get safety and there are no Toffees fans who will care about how they manage to achieve it so long as they are playing Premier League football next season.
Lampard tried praising them publicly and then had to change tact by questioning them in public, but he got the reaction he wanted with a big win.
Warnock’s comments do hold some truth though. Singling players or performances out in public could have a big knock-on effect if he is then forced to rely on them for something later down the line.
While they’re part of the squad they should be looking to stick together and be united as much as possible, before big decisions need to be made in the summer depending on what the final result ends up being.
Lampard is still learning on the job, and this is a massive ask for him, but if he can secure safety then he will be able to lean on this experience in the future if needs be and fans will love him for it, regardless of how it happened.
