Everton join Arsenal in the race to sign Florian Grillitsch

Everton are keeping close tabs on Hoffenheim midfielder Florian Grillitsch, according to The Telegraph.

The report claims that Arsenal and Leeds are also interested in the midfielder who is expected to be among the more “high-profile” Bosmans when the window opens in the summer.

Apart from the three Premier League clubs, there is interest in him from clubs in Germany and Spain.

Competition

The defensive midfielder has made 18 Bundesliga appearances this season.

He has been a regular player for his club over the past few years, and clubs in Germany are probably better placed to sign him.

The Toffees do need to bolster their midfield in the summer.

Fabian Delph is out of contract, and he remains perenially injured. There’s no point in extending his deal.

Andre Gomes has been very inconsistent and the Toffees should look to offload him this summer.

Apart from Allan, there is no solid defensive midfielder in the side, and that’s why signing Grillitsch makes a lot of sense.

Finance is a big issue for Everton, and getting a quality player on a free transfer would be ideal for the club.

However, the competition for him will be huge, and the player may choose to join a club that can offer him European football, or can keep him on high wages.
