Frank Lampard confirms key Everton duo back in squad v Leicester City

Everton defender Yerry Mina will be back amongst the squad for their Premier League clash against Leicester City tomorrow [April 20].

Frank Lampard admitted “he will feature” but the Toffees will exercise caution after his long-term absence.

Donny van de Beek is also in “contention” for the Foxes’ visit as confirmed by Lampard in his pre-Leicester City press conference.

The Blues will aim to extend their cushion to six points on Burnley as they look to put as much distance from the bottom three as possible.

Finally

This is great news for Everton. Finally, Lampard can throw a couple of the key players back into the mix in what is a must-win game for the team.

Mina is absolutely vital to the Blues’ defence and having him back for the rest of the season is massive. They look like a completely different team when he plays, the Columbian is such a leader both on the pitch and in the squad and hopefully, he picks up where he left off.

Everton

Lampard doesn’t sound too confident that van de Beek will play a part against the Foxes. He has suffered a torrid time of late with injuries and illness but he missed the last game due to the birth of his daughter which he wouldn’t have minded.

The former Ajax man being back in contention is so important for the way the former Chelsea boss likes to play. The Dutchman holds all of the qualities for Everton to play the free-flowing football the former England international is so desperate to play.

Even if he doesn’t play tomorrow, this bodes very well for the final several games of the season for the Toffees.

In other Everton news, the Blues are to axe several senior players in summer for “hungrier” alternatives according to Chris Beesley.
