Michael Ball shares ‘the most important thing’ for Everton in run-in

Michael Ball says Everton must focus on Everton and not the situations of the teams they are facing, while speaking to the Liverpool Echo.

The Toffees sit three points above the relegation zone with eight games to go, but face a very tough run-in starting with a first meeting with Leicester at the weekend.

But speaking in his column, Ball says that Frank Lampard’s side must just focus on themselves because everyone has their own situations but right now the blues have theirs in their own hands.

“The most important thing for Everton right now is Everton,” he said.

“We need to stay in the Premier League and, in order to do that, we need points on the board. We can’t care what other clubs are interested in.

“Our survival is in our own hands and we just need to focus on us.”

Focus

The relegation race is set to go to the wire, but the momentum and the favour is currently with the Toffees and it’s now theirs to throw away.

After Burnley sacked Sean Dyche, all hope seems to be lost that they can catch Everton despite the awful run of fixtures that Lampard’s side face between now and the end of the season.

But with a three-point cushion and the benefit of actually having a manager, there is certainly a better case that we can stay up now than there was two weeks ago.

The win over Manchester United two weeks ago shows that they definitely have the quality in the squad to be able to pull it off, and after ten days of rest they have no excuses.

As Ball says, the squad must be entirely focused on themselves now. If they do their jobs then it doesn’t matter what the teams around them are doing, because they’ll be safe.
