Alan Curbishley makes Everton-Liverpool admission ahead of Merseyside derby

Alan Curbishley believes that Liverpool have been better than Everton at every aspect over the last decade.

Both sides had domestic and European droughts until a few years ago, but the Reds got their backroom staff in order to deliver big wins.

The Toffees, on the other hand, appear to have regressed and face the prospect of relegation.

Ahead of their game against Leicester on Wednesday, Curbishley, a Sky Sports pundit, said, “I think Frank would’ve been surprised by the quality of the squad. With that squad they’ve got to back him in the summer.

“I think Everton have enough about them and they’ll probably get something tonight against Leicester.

“However, across the city things are different. Whatever Everton do, Liverpool do a lot better.”

Harsh reality

Liverpool have better footballing people and they know when to be ruthless.

Everyone there is on merit unlike at Goodison Park where certain people seem to have jobs because they’re popular with the board members.

A culture change is needed at the club and until then managers are going to keep coming and going.

Everton

Even a serial winner like Carlo Ancelotti couldn’t do too much at the club and that just proves how broken things are behind the scenes.

Hopefully, Kevin Thelwell can sort things out and bring some kind of organisation.

Marcel Brands was an abject failure and Thelwell needs to avoid the mistakes he made season after season.

In other Everton news, a football finance expert has made a claim on the new Toffees stadium amid a major £300m development in the last week.
