Frank Lampard can transform Everton defence with double bargain deals

If Everton manage to secure Premier League safety this season, Frank Lampard will have a huge job in hand to rebuild the side.

It is daylight clear that the squad is in dire need of quality additions and that some of the players are simply not good enough to represent the club.

A lurch in the fresh direction is needed, but with the money not available in plenty, Lampard may have to wheel and deal to make changes to the squad.

Bolstering the defence is key. That is why Everton must try everything to secure the signing of James Tarkowski who will be available in the summer for free.

Tarkowski has been a standout performer at Burnley for several seasons, but he is determined to leave Turf Moor.

The Blues are reportedly looking to make an offer for the 29-year-old but they are likely to face competition from Newcastle United and others [Inews].

With Yerry Mina struggling with injuries and Michael Keane being the true definition of inconsistency, Tarkowski would really be an upgrade.

He could do a similar role to what Craig Dawson has done for West Ham. Good at interception, dominant in the opposition penalty area and strong in the air – he has a few good years left in him.

Another deal the Toffees should look to wrap up is for Florian Grillitsch.

According to the Daily Mail, the likes of Arsenal, Leeds and Newcastle are also vying for his signature.

The 26-year-old will be a free agent in the summer. A defensive midfielder (another area that Everton need to bolster) by trade, he is equally good at centre-back roles.

He has got a wide range of passing which means the distribution from the back is one quality that Lampard can look to exploit.

The two players are available for free, and considering their qualities, they both can transform the Toffees completely.
