Mohamed Salah gives sly Everton dig after dismantling Manchester United
Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah gave a slight shot in the direction of Everton to reporters ahead of the Merseyside derby against their city rivals.
The 29-year-old was speaking with Sky Sports directly after his two-goal display in Liverpool’s 4-0 romp against Manchester United (19 April) when he made comments that suggested he believes his side can achieve a similar result against the Toffees.
The Egyptian interrupted teammate Thiago’s answer on enjoying the fixture against the Red Devils to suggest the weekend’s game would offer even more satisfaction for the pair.
“You wait until the next one,” he told the Spanish midfielder.
“You’ve never played a derby here, so you wait for the next one. It’s going to be much more fun.”
Not Wrong
As much as Evertonians would like to dismiss it, Salah probably isn’t far off when it comes to his viewpoint ahead of this latest derby clash.
He may have just been referring to the atmosphere that it generates from both sets of supporters but you can’t really blame him for licking his lips from a footballing perspective given Frank Lampard’s side’s dismal defensive displays this season.
Add to that an embarrassing record away from home and the odds seem firmly stacked against Everton in what is already a tough enough fixture as it is.

Salah personally has a great record in this fixture as well, grabbing four goals in the six Merseyside derbies he’s appeared in.
It will have to be a brave set of Toffees fans who turn up to Anfield on Sunday more in hope than with any expectation of earning a positive result.
