Alan Shearer lauds ‘massive’ point for Everton against Leicester
Alan Shearer has praised Richarlison for his last-gasp equaliser for Everton against Leicester; calling the point it secured for the Toffees ‘huge’.
The Brazilian scuffed a shot past Kasper Schmeichel in added time to gain a vital result for the Toffees which extends their gap over Burnley in the final relegation spot.
Shearer believes that point could be vital for Frank Lampard’s side, and speaking on Match of the Day (20 April) the all-time Premier League top-scorer pointed out the upcoming fixture list for the relegation rivals which makes the result even more important.

“How important that point could be? Four points ahead (of Burnley) with the same amount of games played,” he said on the program.
“It could be huge for them. Burnley play Southampton tomorrow night; they then play Wolves at home on Sunday in the early game then Everton go to Liverpool so that could be a massive point for them.”
Much Needed
With the ominous run of games coming up it wasn’t quite a case of do or die for Everton last night but they certainly needed to take something away from Goodison.
The Merseyside derby isn’t looking any easier after Liverpool’s 4-0 coasting past Manchester United and Lampard’s men possess an awful record away from home so even the most optimistic Evertonian probably isn’t expecting much from the weekend.

The point last night though now crucially puts the onus on Burnley to win some football matches, something they’ve only managed to do a league-low four times this season.
Draws aren’t good enough for the Clarets at this stage and they will have to attack games in a way they’re unfamiliar to doing so under recently departed manager Sean Dyche.
That pressure provided by the 1-1 draw against the Foxes could prove pivotal in keeping Everton in the Premier League for next season.
In other Everton news, this Liverpool star made a cheeky comment in the build-up to the derby.
