Fabrizio Romano: Richarlison move from Everton to Manchester United could be in motion in May

Manchester United will “100 per cent” sign a new striker in the summer with internal discussions held over Everton star Richarlison, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Richarlison, 24, has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park this summer regardless of whether the Toffees stay in the Premier League or are relegated.

Caught Offside reported in March that Man United are eyeing Richarlison amid fears that Cristiano Ronaldo will leave in the summer while Dean Jones told GiveMeSport that the Brazilian is “almost a dead cert to be gone next season”.

And with Man United set to hire Erik ten Hag as their new manager with a verbal agreement reached [CBS Sports], it looks like the Red Devils will be signing a new striker and it could be decided next month that it’ll be Richarlison.

“Erik ten Hag knows how important it is to decide who is the perfect striker for Manchester United as soon as possible,” said Romano on his YouTube channel on 20 April.

“You cannot decide on it in June or July or in August. You need to make a decision in May and to start conversations as soon as possible.

“For example, Darwin Nunez [and] Richarlison are players Manchester United have already discussed internally.

“But the perfect striker will be discussed with Erik ten Hag before jumping into any decision because Manchester United will 100 per cent sign a new striker in the summer no matter what happens with Cristiano Ronaldo.”

Invaluable?

You only have to look at Richarlison’s performance against Leicester City on Wednesday night to sum up the Brazilian’s season at Goodison Park.

The ex-Watford forward missed so many chances for the Blues and had he converted them, it could have been three points for Frank Lampard and his men in their bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Richarlison did, however, scuff home a stoppage-time equaliser against the Foxes.

He missed so many gilt-edged chances yet scored a massive fluke. Even Salomon Rondon had no idea he was assisting the equaliser.

If Man United come in with a big-money offer for Richarlison, we should probably take it because this is a player who’s progressively gotten worse over the last couple of seasons.

And if he does go, Lampard – or whoever is in charge of transfers – can sign a replacement and maybe one or two other players.

Everton’s financial situation means they might have to sell in order to buy so we wouldn’t be shocked if that happened.

In other Everton news, this “outstanding” striker has admitted he’s open to a loan exit as he looks for crunch talks with his agent.
