Michah Richards left in stitches on Match of the Day as Gary Lineker makes Everton comment
Gary Lineker fluffed his lines a bit on Match of the Day after Everton earned a last-gasp point against Leicester on Wednesday night.
Richarlison’s scuffed stoppage-time winner cancelled out Harvey Barnes’ first-half goal to move the Toffees four points clear of the Premier League’s relegation zone.
As the Match of the Day pundits looked at the Blues’ fight for survival, ex-Toffee striker Lineker had everyone, including himself, in stitches when he claimed a four-point gap is bigger than a three-point gap.

“Here’s the bottom of the table, Alan,” said Lineker on BBC’s Match of the Day on Wednesday night [20 April], as shown on BBC iPlayer.
“It just shows you how important that point was.
“Four points is a bigger gap… Well, obviously.”
Alan Shearer was just about to start talking about the relegation battle as Micah Richards clocked onto what Lineker said and then erupted into laughter.
Richards said: “Stop it, Gary. Hold on, Alan. Of course it’s a bigger gap.”
Lineker then joked: “Four points is a bigger gap than three points.”
Richards, still laughing, replied: “Exactly. But I know what you meant.”

Michael Owen-esque
Lineker’s quip deserves to be written down and added to the Michael Owen hall of fame because it’s exactly the kind of stupid thing the ex-Liverpool man would say.
But what made Lineker’s remark about the relegation battle funny was that he caught himself mid-sentence and managed to laugh off his own ridiculously obvious comment.
We know what he means, though.
Everton’s chances of survival look a lot better now than they did 24 hours ago.
Leicester have had a bad season but considering how bad our season has been, earning a point against the Foxes isn’t a terrible result.
And when you’ve scored a last-minute equaliser, it does feel as though it’s a win and it’ll surely boost the morale of the squad ahead of the Merseyside derby this weekend.
Of course, the gap is still only four points and Burnley have two fixtures in which they could potentially pick up big points in the coming days.
On Thursday night, they play Southampton and then this weekend, they have Wolves.
After that, it’s Watford and Aston Villa for the managerless Clarets, who can still catch Everton.
In other Everton news, this “outstanding” striker has admitted he’s open to a loan exit as he looks for crunch talks with his agent.
