Donny van de Beek to leave Everton in summer for Manchester United return

Everton will have to wave goodbye to Donny van de Beek at the end of the season as he looks set to return to Manchester United, according to the Telegraph.

The 25-year-old has played just six times for the Toffees since his deadline day loan arrival in January and hasn’t had the impact anyone was hoping for on Merseyside.

The Red Devils have announced the arrival of Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag for next season and having previously worked with van de Beek in Amsterdam, it was assumed that he would return to Manchester to reunite with his old boss.

The Telegraph appear to have reaffirmed this assumption claiming that van de Beek will be given the chance to fight for his place at Old Trafford.

That would rule out any potential permanent move for the 25-year-old to Goodison Park which will leave Frank Lampard with plenty to do in the transfer market when he searches for a replacement.

Off you go

The arrival of van de Beek was met with plenty of positive sounds from Everton fans back in January but if you asked them now, they wouldn’t be so enthusiastic.

Every game he has played in the blue of the Toffees, he has been thoroughly underwhelming and he’s now had the indignity of being pushed out of the side by a resurgent Fabian Delph and a converted Alex Iwobi.

If he can’t get in ahead of either of those then what chance does he have at Old Trafford?

Well considering that even we beat the Red Devils the other week, maybe he’d be the first name on the teamsheet for that sinking ship.

If Everton stay up this season, then we can definitely find better players than him to patrol the middle of the park so let’s all wave him off and hope to only see him in the opposition changing room to give us an easy afternoon.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have entered a fierce battle to sign this England international on a free transfer in the summer.
