Simon Jordan admits being worried for Everton after Burnley win v Southampton
Simon Jordan says he is ‘beginning to worry for Everton’ after Burnley’s up-turn in form and has questioned if Frank Lampard can save them.
The Toffees sit one point above Burnley just outside the relegation zone with a game in hand, with both teams having picked up four points from their last two games.
But with Lampard’s side having such a tough run of games in their run-in, Jordan was speaking on talkSPORT when he shared that he fears for the blues if they drop into the bottom three in the next few games.
“There’s a distinct possibility that Everton are going to drop into the bottom three given the run of games they’ve got,” he said.
“You can’t make a case for Everton either beating Liverpool or Chelsea, so if Burnley can get a result in their next game against Wolves, which isn’t a given because Wolves are no mugs, but again there’s more jeopardy in this game for Burnley than there is for Wolves, all of a sudden Everton are in the bottom three.
“I look at the table now and I look at the amount of games, obviously Everton have got a game in hand and that game you know will find itself being very compelling to them.
“There’s two games that Burnley have to play are against Villa twice because they’ve not played them this season which is ironic. So with that in mind, I think 36 or 37 points is going to get one of these teams, potentially safe.
“I’m beginning to really worry for Everton. Of course Everton fans will be nervous and of course they should be worried because they’re fourth from bottom in the league so they should always be this mentality that you’re going to be concerned by that.
“But I’ve always had the mindset that Everton will find a way through this. But I think these are real nip and tuck moments now. This if Frank Lampard digging into territory he knows nothing about, and he’s going to have to come out of it swinging. More importantly, his players are.”

Trouble
Everton were by no means out of danger at any point in this battle, but it seems they may be in more danger now than they have been at any point.
The blues have found form themselves, but their performances at Goodison Park haven’t been the problem for the duration of Lampard’s reign so far, it’s the away form.
The team must find a way to get points away from home in this run-in or they face losing the advantage they currently have and becoming the hunters rather than the hunted.
With so few games left to play, they will struggle to be able to turn it around again and with Burnley looking as good as they have all season recently it’s hard to see them throwing it away if they get to that position too.
Everyone associated with the club is and should be worried, but this is a chance for Lampard and his team to prove they have what it takes and keep the chase in their hands.
