Frank Lampard should consider Nathan Broadhead in Everton plans
Everton have really struggled to score goals this season and the lengthy injury of Dominic Calvert-Lewin hasn’t helped their cause one iota.
The England international has returned to fitness in the last month or two but the big break on the sidelines has taken its toll and he is a shadow of his former self.
These problems have done nothing but hinder Frank Lampard and the Toffees and the summer might see them searching for a new number nine to fire them to a better season than this.
There is though a striker contracted to Everton who is finding some good form as the season nears its climax.
Nathan Broadhead has scored four goals in his last five games with his most recent coming this afternoon as his loan side Sunderland demolished Cambridge United 5-1 at the Stadium of Light.
Today’s goal takes his season’s tally to 12 in all competitions for the Black cats which is impressive considering he spent much of the beginning of 2022 out with an injury.
At 24 years of age, he might be a touch too old for Lampard’s liking with the likes of Ellis Simms and Lewis Dobbin much younger alternatives at a similar ability level.

Simms too is enjoying a fruitful loan spell in Scotland where he has scored a handful of goals since January with Premiership side Hearts.
But Broadhead’s slightly wiser head and red-hot form in front of goal could well encourage Lampard to keep him around for a little while longer.
If Calvert-Lewin isn’t going to improve any further, he can’t do any worse surely?
