Everton likely to listen to offers for Tom Davies this summer – report

Everton are likely to be ‘open to offers’ for midfielder Tom Davies this summer as he enters the final year of his contract, according to journalist Paul Brown.

Davies has missed most of the season through injury and hasn’t even been able to train under new manager Frank Lampard as he looks to recover.

But while speaking to GiveMeSport, Daily Star journalist Brown suggested that the club would be willing to sell him to help balance their books after a tough season.

“Tom Davies is another interesting one,” he said.

“He’s never pushed on to what Everton thought he could become. I think he only has a year left on his deal as well, so they probably would be open to offers.

“He’s been injured most of the season, so you’d think he’d be hard to shift, but as a homegrown player, he’d certainly help the profit and loss accounts if they were to bring some money in for him.”

Time

Davies burst onto the scene a few years ago and was a breath of fresh air, with his energy and passion a huge help to a midfield that was struggling.

But the club have bolstered their midfield over recent transfer windows and realistically he is no longer of the required level, something Everton are keen to uphold.

If they can secure Premier League football for next season, the likelihood is that Davies will be deemed as surplus to requirements and the clubs that will be in for him won’t be at the highest level.

He’s a steady midfielder and a decent squad option, but after performances this season Lampard will want to strengthen the squad and that would push him even further down the pecking order.

With all his injuries too, it just seems like the right time to move him on from the club and wish him well in his future career away from Goodison Park.
