Andy Robertson delivers honest verdict on Everton relegation chances

Everton lost 2-0 against Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday and they have now dropped into the relegation zone.

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has suggested that the Toffees need to win games to avoid the drop when asked when they need to do from here on.

Since taking charge, Frank Lampard has now lost eight of his 12 Premier League games, and they have a huge battle in hand to turn the situation around with only a few games left.

“They’re in a dogfight. Burnley won today. They’re fighting. Everton need to win games to stay up. If they do we’ll look forward to more derbies and if they don’t they’ll have to deal with it. I’m sure they’ll bounce back,” said Robertson, as relayed by the BBC Sport website.

Tough

Goals from Robertson and Divock Origi in the second half earned Liverpool an important victory as they stay in the fight for the Premier League title.

The defeat for the Toffees came after Burnley had won 1-0 against Wolves on Saturday. If Leeds win their game against Crystal Palace, the Whites will probably feel safe for the season.

The problem for the Toffees is that they have been really poor away from home this season. They have to pick up points away from Goodison Park and can’t entirely rely on their home form to save themselves.

They face Leicester City away from home and it presents a tricky game. Watford, Brentford, Crystal Palace, and Arsenal pose a difficult run-in, and the Toffees need to be on top of their game to get out of this mire.

Burnley also face the likes of Aston Villa, Tottenham and Newcastle and it won’t be easy for them either.

Robertson is bang on here. Everton have to win their games but it’s hard to find optimism at the moment.
