View: Everton boss Frank Lampard will be fuming with latest FA update

Frank Lampard will be fuming and he has every right to be after the news broke that the Everton boss could be charged following his criticism of Stuart Attwell.

The Blues lost 2-0 at Anfield but it was the countless disgraceful decisions from the officials that irked the boss the most.

Anthony Gordon should have been awarded a penalty with the scoreline still at 0-0 but the referee waved play on as Joel Matip bundled the winger to the ground.

To make matters worse, VAR didn’t even check the incident and Lampard flew off the handle after the game. The club have since contacted the PGMOL to clarify why Darren England did not act.

He said as per Daily Mail: “If it is Mo Salah at the other end, you get a penalty. I have played in teams in the top half of the league, you get them.”

Farcical.

The fact that Lampard is now facing the risk of being fined for his – truthful – comments after the game is outrageous.

Those in charge are allowed to make as many mistakes as they want and the second somebody calls them out for it, they start brandishing fines.

Lampard hasn’t been handed one yet but if he doesn’t tiptoe around the situation, he most likely will.

Why should he have to explain himself after they are the ones to mess up and not for the first time with the Toffees.

This is an extension of the Rodri handball incident at Goodison Park where the Toffees should have picked up a point against Manchester City but the most obvious handball in the world was turned away.

These decisions could be the difference between the Blues staying in the Premier League or getting relegated so the officials ought to be the ones being punished, not the people who have suffered enough already.

In other Everton news, Jamie Carragher has flown off the handle in a “diabolical” rant after the Anfield loss.
