Everton have slight edge in Premier League relegation battle says Micah Richards

Micah Richards believes Everton hold the slimmest of advantages against Burnley as the Premier League relegation race heads down to the wire.

The Toffees have endured a disastrous campaign and currently sit two points adrift of the Clarets and safety, albeit with a game in hand on their unlikely rivals.

And with the season rapidly approaching its finale, Richards believes they’ll just have enough to stay up at Michael Jackson’s side’s expense.

Everton

“If you are asking me who I would rather be out of Everton or Burnley? I might just veer towards Everton because they have better players and a game in hand, but Burnley have belief and it is too close to call,” he said, as quoted by LancashireLive (28 April).

“When you are down there, it (getting out of the bottom three) gives you that belief. Burnley have always had a couple of games in hand but now they are out of there it gives them some breathing space.”

Tension Unbearable

Even with all the mismanagement that has gone on in recent years at the club not many Evertonians ever thought it would get this bad.

Farhad Moshiri’s arrival in 2016 was supposed to signal Everton’s rise to the next level after competing on the cusp of the traditional big six for many years but the complete opposite has happened and could yet end with the ultimate embarrassment of relegation.

It’s yet another example of money being of no use unless it is invested wisely, which managers of yesteryear such as David Moyes and Roberto Martinez managed to do so well whilst in charge of the Toffees.

Everton

Far too many players to list have come through the door at Goodison and have failed to justify the price paid for their services, with several major flops to boot returning minimal gains on the investment made.

Everton it seems tried to run before they could walk with their newfound wealth, and now face the trapdoor being opened underneath their feet as a damning consequence.

In other Everton news, Louis Saha can’t believe the situation the club currently finds itself in.
