Everton told whether to sack Frank Lampard as Scott Minto moots ‘massive cull’ at Goodison Park
Scott Minto wants Everton to stick with Frank Lampard as their manager whether they’re relegated or not this season.
Going into their final six matches of the season, the Blues find themselves in the Premier League’s relegation zone, two points from safety.
Since taking charge in January, Lampard has been unable to save the sinking ship at Goodison Park and Minto believes it would only be fair to stick by the manager but to overhaul the playing squad instead this summer.

“I personally think that they should stick by [Lampard]. Absolutely,” said BT Sport pundit Minto, as shown on talkSPORT’s Twitter account on Wednesday [27 April].
“He’s almost trying to turn around the Titanic since he first came in.
“And yes, it’ll be incredibly disappointing to take Everton down but this has been going on for years.
“I mean, these players are not good enough.
“Whatever happens, whatever division they’re in, there needs to be a massive cull and a big turnaround in terms of who they’re going to bring in and who they’re going to get rid of.”
To sack or not to sack?
If you ask Evertonians whether or not they’d want to see Lampard sacked if the club is relegated, the majority would probably rather see him stay.
While Lampard isn’t blameless in the club’s current predicament, he is nowhere near as complicit as the owner, the board, the previous managers and coaching staff and the playing squad.
It has been setback after setback for the Toffees with Farhad Moshiri sending the club backwards year after year in his time as the owner.
He’s burned his way through numerous managers and directors of football, spent over half a billion on players and is now left with a muddled-up squad primed for Championship football.
Everton need continuity so maybe keeping Lampard on board is the right way to go.
At the end of the day, if we do go down, Lampard did a great job with Derby in the Championship, almost getting them promoted a few seasons back.
Let’s hope if the worst does happen, the ex-Chelsea boss can rescue us from the Championship at the very first attempt and in the process, overhaul a squad that is in absolute disarray.
In other Everton news, Stan Collymore has taken a big swipe at this 25-year-old who he suggests is taking the Blues down to the Championship.
