Sky Sports pundit criticises colleague Jamie Carragher for bias in Everton v Liverpool clash
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Jamie Carragher was “wrong” to attack Richarlison during the commentary of the Everton v Liverpool clash according to Kevin Campbell.
The former Liverpool defender was on the Sky Sports match commentary and angrily reacted to the Brazilian going down with an ankle injury in the first half, demanding he “get up” because there was “nothing wrong with him” (talkSPORT).
Although he later admitted he had been “harsh” on the Toffees man after replays showed he was hurt, his colleague who was in the half-time studio Campbell believes it was not acceptable.

He spoke exclusively to Goodison News and told us: “When you’re the commentator you shouldn’t be saying ‘get up’ and all stuff like that, especially when your allegiance is to one side, the red side.
“You can’t be saying ‘get up’ and stuff. I think that’s a bit much, in my eyes. I think Jamie was wrong for that.
“Listen, Jamie’s done a good job commentating and stuff like that, but obviously it’s derby day, to me and to a lot of Blues, that was wrong.”

There was plenty of controversy arising from the Merseyside derby, and Carragher’s reaction to Richarlison contributed to a feeling of injustice following the 2-0 defeat.
The Anfield legend has to be extra careful when working on games featuring his former side, none more so than in the local derby, and he didn’t do that.
Not only did it invite claims of bias, it was simply inaccurate as the former defender had missed the awkward fall that Richarlison had taken, which aside from any other incidents justified him being down.
In other Everton news, Campbell pointed the finger at Mohamed Salah as he raged at the diver tag applied to one Toffee.
