Don Hutchison drools over Everton defender Yerry Mina v Chelsea

Don Hutchison has been left impressed by the performance of Everton defender Yerry Mina on Sunday.

The Colombian made a return to the starting line-up against Chelsea and produced a top-class performance as the Toffees earned a 1-0 win at Goodison Park.

Hutchison hailed him as “Outstanding”, before adding he was absolute “rock” for Mason Holgate.

While replying to a Twitter user, he wrote: “I’ve no idea what this means, but Yerry Mina was outstanding today.”

In a separate tweet, he added: “Yerry Mina (was) an absolute rock for M Holgate today. Coleman, Iwobi, Richarlison, Docoure, Pickford, Gray, Gordon, the whole team, and (the) fans (were) superb!!”

Spot on

Frank Lampard has previously said many times that Mina is an important part of this side although he hasn’t played much under him.

The Colombian is arguably the best defender for the Toffees, but his fitness problems are a big issue for the manager.

When fit, Mina is capable of producing a heroic performance like what he did today, and it remains to be seen whether he remains in the manager’s long-term plans.

Mina made one interception, four clearances and blocked two shots, to round off a brilliant performance, as per Who Scored.

Everton

Everton needed to reply strongly after Burnley won 2-1 against Watford on Saturday and took a five-point lead.

With this victory today, they have closed the gap with both Leeds and Burnley to two points, having played a game less.

The atmosphere at Goodison Park was breathtaking and the fans really acted as the 12th man for the team that are under immense pressure.

The players responded to the demands of the fans and gave the supporters something to cheer about. However, the Toffees need to improve their away performance.

In other Everton news, Stan Collymore has taken a big swipe at this 25-year-old who he suggests is taking the Blues down to the Championship.
