Peter Reid shares brilliant Twitter message after Everton win v Chelsea

Everton move within two points of the Premier League safety zone after securing a 1-0 win over Chelsea at Goodison Park on Sunday.

The atmosphere was electrifying at Goodison Park today and the players responded to the demands of the supporter.

Peter Reid has posted a brilliant message on Twitter where he thanked the Evertonians for creating a marvellous atmosphere.

Reid wrote on Twitter: “Evertonians take a bow.”

Massive victory

Richarlison needs to be careful as his goal celebration could lead the Toffees into trouble.

The Brazilian scored the only goal of the match when he dispossessed Cesar Azpilicueta on the edge of the box, and then slotted it home.

A blue flare was thrown onto the pitch by supporters at the Gwladys Street Stand and Richarlison picked it up as a part of his celebration.

According to Inews, the Brazilian now faces an FA investigation for throwing a lit flare into the crowd, although it’s unclear where the object landed.

Everton

Everton needed to come up with a strong response after Burnley won 2-1 against Watford yesterday and took a five-point lead.

The Toffees have done well at home under Frank Lampard but this was something special. This was about how an atmosphere can act as a 12th man for the team – it was incredible. Words fail.

The players responded as a result. Yerry Mina was simply outstanding, along with Mason Holgate at the back. Jordan Pickford also made some outstanding saves during the game as well.

The Toffees are still 18th in the table, and the relegation battle is expected to go down to the wire.

In other Everton news, Stan Collymore has taken a big swipe at this 25-year-old who he suggests is taking the Blues down to the Championship.
