Sky Sports pundit predicts ‘big part’ in Everton survival battle for reserve pair after Liverpool fight
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Unfavoured Everton duo Dele Alli and Salomon Rondon have a “big opportunity” for a key role in the survival battle says Kevin Campbell.
The pair played a big part in the build up to Richarlison’s last-gasp equaliser against Leicester (20 April) and were again the ones Frank Lampard turned to off the bench in the Merseyside derby.
And Sky Sports pundit Campbell believes they have shown enough if their recent cameo appearances to suggest they will have a say in the final weeks of the relegation battle.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News he said: “I think we’ve got to watch and see. I think Dele Alli had done really well when he came on. Rondon put himself about which was good, didn’t have a long time.
“But I thought Dele Alli had a couple of good actions. He’d done that run where he got down to the byline and cut it back. And other bits and pieces.
“He looked alright, Dele Alli. He looked alright. Whether he’s going to start or not I just don’t know.
“But I think these guys might have a part to play in the survival. Whether they start or not there’s a big opportunity to play a big part.”

Although Richarlison has rediscovered a bit of scoring form, although only once from open play, the form and availability of Dominic Calvert-Lewin continues to be a concern.
Rondon’s aerial ability always offers a chance from crosses and knockdowns, but it is the sparks of a resurgence from January signing Dele that is most encouraging.
If he can continue to gain confidence to the point of being even half the player he was a few years ago it would be a major boost in the relegation battle.
In other Everton news, Graeme Souness says the Toffees players are “without quality” as he worries for their survival.
