Everton keeper Jordan Pickford had ‘Conor McGregor style swagger’ v Chelsea

On a weekend where Burnley dragged themselves closer to Premier League safety, Everton responded by picking up three points of their own.

The Toffees battled for their lives at Goodison Park and a Richarlison goal early on in the second half was enough to secure a 1-0 win against Champions League-chasing Chelsea.

One of the standout performers though was Frank Lampard’s number one Jordan Pickford who pulled off one of the saves of the season to deny the Blues, playing in yellow, an equaliser.

But it wasn’t the save itself that Evertonians will have enjoyed but what the England international did afterwards that was pointed out by the Liverpool Echo.

“What supporters in the ground may not have noticed is Pickford’s celebrations after each save, a Conor McGregor-style swagger to the soundtrack of appreciation from the stands,” they write.

Love that man

There are few players in this Everton squad that are more universally adored than Pickford and this is just one of the reasons why.

His sheer desire to win football games and celebrate the big moments is something we all share whether that be on or off the pitch and it radiates around the entire team and stadium.

The way he got under the skin of every red in Anfield last week and the cheeky smile on his face as he did so was another moment that every Evertonian couldn’t help but laugh at too.

Add in his bursts of outrage whenever he is asked to actually do the job he’s paid to is another thing we can all resonate with sometimes.

On top of all that, he’s the best English goalkeeper in the world and he proved just that against Thomas Tuchel’s side and without him in between the sticks, god knows how badly this season could have really gone.

In other Everton news, more praise has been flooding in for Pickford but the stats say that he did something yesterday that no one else has this season.
