Michael Carrick heaps praise on Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after win v Chelsea
Michael Carrick has heaped praise on Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford for his performance in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Chelsea.
The Toffees picked up all three points thanks to Richarlison’s goal, but Pickford made an incredible double save to keep a clean sheet and help the team in their time of need.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Carrick praised the England goalkeeper for putting his ‘body on the line’ and credited him for the victory.

“It was his day today you know,” he said.
“He put his body on the line, three, four saves. Big, big, big saves when you need them and it’s paid dividends for Everton.”
It was the second clean sheet in four games as the Toffees made it seven points from their last available 12.
Number one
There’s a reason that Pickford has retained his England number one status despite Everton’s poor performances this season and that’s because he has been great.
Individually the 28-year-old has made little to no mistakes this season and been able to be a reliable leader in the squad as they battle for survival.

Defensively the team have been horrendous, but it would be several times worse without him between the sticks and his commitment level has never dropped.
Pickford has done himself and his reputation now harm whatsoever this season and if Everton do get relegated then he will no doubt be able to find a Premier League club or five that would take him as their number one.
If they are able to stay up though, it will be in large part down to him and all the fans and players should be giving him all the props during the off-season.
