In-form Everton loanee Nathan Broadhead provides update on injury with playoffs on the horizon

Everton loanee Nathan Broadhead has provided an update on his latest injury setback with Sunderland’s huge playoff clash with Sheffield Wednesday on the horizon.

Broadhead, 24, has been in fine form with ten goals for Sunderland in a season that has been marred by injuries for the striker.

Broadhead was on the scoresheet as the Blackcats secured their playoff place with a 1-0 win over Morecambe at the Mazuma Stadium on Saturday.

Talking on a twitch stream on Monday morning [May 1, 10:00 am] Broadhead said: “I don’t know [about the injury].

“We’ll have to wait and see tomorrow.”

Big blow

If Broadhead is unavailable, it will be a huge blow to Sunderland’s playoff chances.

The Everton man has been deadly in front of goal this season, having scored a number of vital goals for Alex Neil’s team.

As per Wyscout, Broadhead has the sixth-highest goals per 90 in League One this season.

When the 24-year-old is on the pitch for Neil’s side he is making a significant impact on their attacking output.

What seems clear is that Broadhead won’t be playing League One football next season.

With his Everton contract expiring in the summer of 2023 and being 24-years-old, another loan move from the Toffees seems unlikely.

If Everton were to tumble into the Championship, then he could be an excellent option for the Toffees to utilise in their promotion push.

However, if they remain in the Premier League, it wouldn’t be a shock to see Frank Lampard cash in on Broadhead.

Sunderland fans will be nervously waiting on his availability with their huge playoff first-leg against Wednesday kicking off on Friday evening.
