Sky pundit slams ‘inept’ system set to punish Everton’s Frank Lampard for ‘telling the truth’
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
The FA are adding insult to injury by coming down on Everton boss Frank Lampard after controversial refereeing decisions, says Kevin Campbell.
Following the controversial Merseyside derby which saw a number of contentious calls from Stuart Attwell go against the Toffees, including to not award Anthony Gordon a penalty, the manager said, via The Athletic: “If that was Mo Salah at the other end, he gets a penalty.
“You don’t get them here (Anfield). That’s the reality of football sometimes.
“If you look back with that on VAR, there’s questionable things going on, maybe that’s to be expected when you come here.”
The FA subsequently were reported to be seeking an explanation from Lampard for his comments, and Sky Sports pundit Campbell is sick of the system punishing the club.

He spoke exclusively to Goodison News and said: “Yeah, here we go again. We’re in the same spot aren’t we? Like after the Man City game at Goodison.
“Frank Lampard tells the truth. He’s telling the truth. He’s got to explain himself and there’s a potential fine or whatever.
“All these things are because the system is inept. The system isn’t fit for purpose. The system is all the people concerned, and they’re not getting the decisions right.
“That’s the bottom line, so that’s why the likes of Frank Lampard is going to have to explain himself and all that kind of madness. It’s crazy.”

When an apparently clear handball by Rodri did not result in a penalty for the Toffees at Goodison referees chief Mike Riley called the club to apologise.
But despite the incident at Anfield, with Joel Matip seeming to foul Gordon, again not being awarded a spot-kick it is Lampard who is in line for punishment as a result.
Officiating has not been good enough or consistent enough and it has hurt the club on a number of occasions, and Campbell will be speaking for Everton fans everywhere in branding recent events “crazy”.
In other Everton news, Roy Keane branded one Toffee a “disgrace” for his role in the win over Chelsea.
