Stan Collymore frightened by scenes at Everton as image emerges from outside Goodison Park
Stan Collymore is frightened of a player getting seriously injured if flares are used inside football grounds as they were at Everton on Sunday.
Merseyside was painted blue by Evertonians ahead of their mammoth 1-0 win over Chelsea at Goodison Park.
However, there was an instance were a couple of blue flares were thrown onto the pitch and used inside the stadium.

Collymore is all for them being used by fans outside of stadiums but doesn’t want them inside, warning that a serious injury to a player could happen.
“I’m a fan of seeing flares outside grounds as long as there’s enough police to control the situation but no more in stadiums, please,” said Collymore in The Mirror today [print edition, 3 May, page 47] alongside an image of Evertonians at Goodison Park on Sunday.
“They’re too hot, too dangerous, there’s too much potential for harm.
“My worry is one will explode one day and end up blinding a player.”

He’s right
As much as the flares do create a great scene and really do help add to the atmosphere inside stadiums, they are dangerous and they are banned for a reason.
Holding them aloft in the stand is one thing but throwing them around is completely dangerous and should lead to supporters being banned.
What if flares don’t make it to the pitch and land on a child in the stand? What if Richarlison has misthrown the blue flare on the pitch at Goodison and it hit someone in the stand?
Yes, that image of Richarlison will be a legendary one if the Blues do avoid relegation but he should not have thrown it, in our very honest opinion.
Anyway, Evertonians created one of the best atmospheres Goodison Park – and the city of Liverpool – has ever seen on Sunday.
It no doubt played a role in what was a monumental win over Chelsea, which now means that Premier League safely is firmly within the hands of Frank Lampard and this set of players.
Let’s hope they can do this because we all believe they can.
Come on you Blues.
