Everton could get away without Richarlison suspension after update today

Richarlison was the hero of the day on Sunday as Everton beat Chelsea 1-0 to keep their survival hopes well and truly alive at Goodison Park.

It wasn’t all good news for the Brazilian though as after he had celebrated his match-winning goal at the Gladys Street End, a flare was thrown onto the pitch as the crowd went wild.

In the heat of the moment, the 24-year-old picked it up as it bellowed blue smoke and threw it back into the stands as he walked back towards the centre circle for the resumption of the game.

BBC journalist Alistair McGowan reported via his personal Twitter account that the Merseyside Police are still looking at the incident before making any kind of ruling.

Perhaps more importantly for Frank Lampard though, McGowan also mentions that the FA won’t hand out any kind of punishment until the police investigation is complete.

That means that he will be available for the final few games of the season, as it stands, and that could be the key between staying in the Premier League and dropping into the second tier for the first time in many decades.

The Brazilian has been arguably Everton’s most effective player this season and his goals have won many a point for the Toffees so far to keep them in with a shout of staying up with four games left to play.

If this investigation does last a while, then we could get extremely lucky and avoid any kind of suspension for these last few games and take the hit next season.

If he is suspended though, it could be massively detrimental to the season for Everton and their future in the Premier League may depend on his availability.
