Everton defender Michael Keane shares ‘special’ behind scenes mood
Everton defender Michael Keane has lifted the lid on the “special feeling” pulsing through the squad after the Chelsea win last weekend.
The Blues took a big step towards Premier League safety with them now sitting only two points behind Leeds and Burnley with a game in hand on the pair.
However, the Englishman put the onus on remaining calm despite the carnival nature of Goodison Park last time out – adamant that the job isn’t done.

He told Sky Sports [May 5, 10:00]: “It was special, the whole day. Coming into Goodison on the coach and seeing thousands of fans there chanting, with flares, banging on the bus, just genuine passion you can see on their faces – it gave the lads a massive lift.
“To then produce like the lads did on the pitch and send the lads home happy, it was a special feeling. In the changing room afterwards, everyone was buzzing, and everyone was happy.
“But we’re trying to stay calm, we’ve got five games left to go, we’re going to need a few more wins. We can’t get carried away, we’ve got to focus now, this whole week, on the Leicester game on Sunday.
“It wasn’t silly celebrations, we know it’s just three points. Three points in the right direction for us.”
Momentum.
The win against Chelsea was absolutely huge but the most important thing is that it is built on.

Lampard’s side had previously beaten Manchester United in a similar game at Goodison Park but they completely failed to add to the momentum and get themselves out of trouble.
This time around, the blues simply cannot afford to do that. If they don’t continue to put points on the board – relegation is on the cards.
With only five games left to play in the Premier League, every single opportunity to score points needs to be seized and Sunday [May 8] presents a massive one.
Leicester face Roma tonight in their crunch semi-final European clash which will tire them out for the Toffees’ trip to the King Power Stadium.
It is an away game that almost guarantees a loss but this is the perfect time to change their abysmal away record.
