Everton players name most skilful player in squad in 'street football' view

Alex Iwobi has been named the most skilful Everton player in the squad being likened to a “street” footballer by his teammates.

The former Arsenal man has only been involved in three goals all season for the Blues but has found himself under a new lease of life under Frank Lampard.

When asked for Everton’s latest matchday programme who the most skilful player in the squad is, Anthony Gordon said, as per Liverpool Echo: “Alex Iwobi.”

He added: “He’s very sharp and his combination play is very good. He does some crazy skills too.”

Whilst Seamus Coleman admitted: “In training, he’s full of stepovers and Cruyff turns. He’s very difficult to get the ball off.”

Ben Godfrey said: “Alex Iwobi. It’s like street football.”

Meanwhile, Mason Holgate commented: “He’s got mad feet.”

New man.

Until Lampard’s arrival, Iwobi has been a flop at Everton. It looked as if Arsenal had pulled a fast one on the Blues – much like a host of other clubs – by selling them one of their washed-up fringe players at an extortionate price.

The fans have found themselves increasingly frustrated with him over him showing no signs whatsoever of being good enough to play for the club.

That all changed under Lampard – somehow the former Chelsea boss has managed to get a tune out of him.

Admittedly, he was under two very defensive managers in Carlo Ancelotti and Rafa Benitez but the form he showed under the pair was awful.

Hopefully, he can continue to build on the brilliant levels he has shown of late and help the Toffees in securing Premier League safety.

Everton’s fate is in their hands, win their game in hand and they leapfrog Leeds and Burnley – all they have to do then is stay above the pair.
