Everton relegation prediction from West Ham striker Michail Antonio
West Ham striker Michail Antonio has predicted Frank Lampard’s Everton to drop into the Championship for the first time in their history.
The Toffees currently sit in the relegation zone, albeit with a game in hand on Leeds United above them.
Antonio believes the situation will be alien to a club like Everton and feels they could be sucked into the Championship.
Talking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Antonio said: “I actually think it could be Everton because they’re not used to being down there or being in this fight.
“They’re used to being higher up the table and looking up, looking down is a completely different pressure and I don’t know if they can get themselves out of it.”
Everton fight
If Everton’s victory over Chelsea is anything to go by, then Antonio may have slightly missed the mark.
The Goodison faithful welcomed the side in a cloud of blue smoke, the players fought for every inch against the European Champions, and they thoroughly deserved their win.
It certainly looks like Everton are up for the fight and more than motivated to avoid their first ever Premier League relegation.
If anything, Goodison Park seems like the perfect environment for a relegation battle to take place.
At present, it looks as if Everton’s relegation rivals Leeds United are the ones who haven’t responded well.
The Whites are coming off a 4-0 hammering to Manchester City and face Arsenal and Chelsea in their next two fixtures.
As much as Everton haven’t experienced a relegation battle, the same can be said for the Yorkshire side.
Leeds have been on an upward trajectory for the best part of six years, so it will also be a different situation for Jesse Marsch’s side.
