View: Everton set for massive boost ahead of Leicester City clash

Everton are to receive a massive boost ahead of their crunch Premier League clash against Leicester on the weekend.

Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma side host the Foxes tonight [May 5] for the second leg of their Europa Conference League semi-final.

With the Premier League all but over for City, Brendan Rodgers has saved his key men for the Stadio Olimpico clash, much to the delight of the Toffees.

Not only will the Blues have four extra days rest on Leicester, but tonight’s game also has the opportunity of going to extra-time and penalties – increasing the workload on Rodgers’ players ahead of Sunday.

Leeds and Burnley will undoubtedly be watching Leicester get the business done using as little energy and as quickly as possible amid their relegation dogfight with the Merseysiders.

Equally, if the Premier League outfit is to win in Italy and book their place in the final – their star men will likely be rested on the weekend with their league campaign all but wrapped up.

Stars aligned.

This is the perfect game for Everton to shirk their disgraceful away form. Lampard has been able to get a tune out of the Toffees at home – with a lot of help from the Goodison Park faithful – but away from home has been another question.

It is Jekyll and Hyde-like the way this team play – it is impossible to figure out how a group of players can put in performances at home against the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea but look so terrible against Tottenham away for example.

This is the game where Everton can make everyone take them seriously again because at the moment not many are as they sit in 18th place.

Of course, they benefit from having a game in hand on Leeds and Burnley whilst sitting two points behind the pair but having three away games out of their last five in the league is very worrying.
