Everton want to sign Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill, West Ham United favourites – report

Everton want to sign Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill in the upcoming summer window, according to 90min.

The online source has reported on their website that the Toffees are interested in a deal that could cost up to £15million.

It is shared that the race is hotting up, with relegation rivals Leeds also interested and West Ham United the current favourites.

Burnley would want to keep Brownhill in an ideal world, but they are said to recognise that they may need to sell.

That is regardless of whether or not the Clarets end up staying in the Premier League beyond this season.

West Ham are favourites as they have been watching the midfield maestro for almost 18 months now with David Moyes ready to start bidding.

Smart.

This would be a very smart move from Kevin Thelwell and Frank Lampard.

For years now, the Toffees have targeted foreign imports from Europe for huge money and they simply haven’t worked out.

Andre Gomes is the perfect example, and he has failed to deliver since arriving from Barcelona and spends most of his time injured.

Brownhill is homegrown and knows what it takes to be in a real midfield battle, unlike most of our squad right now.

With question marks surrounding the futures of Allan, Gomes and Fabian Delph, this is an area we need to strengthen, no doubt.

Staying in the Premier League is the ultimate goal right now, but pulling off smart deals such as this one after that could be critical.

This is certainly one to watch, if West Ham don’t get a deal over the line, we have to be there to sabotage in the summer.
