Alan Shearer makes major Everton relegation prediction after Leicester win
Alan Shearer has gushed over Everton and their fans following a “huge” win away from home against Leicester City on Sunday [May 8].
The Blues’ first Premier League away win since August saw them climb one point above Burnley and Leeds to 16th in the table.
The former Newcastle striker highlighted the unity currently pulsing through the club as they took one big step towards safety.

He wrote in his BBC Sport column: “It was gritty, and gutsy – and certainly not pretty, but then it doesn’t have to be when you are scrapping to avoid relegation.
“What mattered was that the Everton players gave everything and it was the same with their supporters in the stands, who travelled to Leicester in such numbers and played a huge part in them getting the win.
“Sometimes it is the fans who get their side going with the noise they make, or vice versa because of what they see happening on the pitch. This time, with Everton’s performance, the two seemed to go hand in hand.
“They kept responding to each other and the Everton players dug in and held out to complete what was a great few days for them – especially with Burnley and Leeds being beaten this weekend.”
He added: “Just one more win might be enough to keep them up, but two almost certainly will be.”

Crucial.
It was vital that Everton not only built on the momentum gained by beating Chelsea last week but ended their away form crisis against the Foxes and they did exactly that.
Back to back wins now see the Blues out of the drop zone which is imperative as they look to stay in the Premier League.
Frank Lampard and co simply can’t afford to get carried away because the Blues only boast a one-point advantage.
Of course, they have a game in hand which could see that gap extended to four points on Burnley and Leeds but they have to go out and win that game which makes remaining focused absolutely key.
The fans were excellent at the King Power Stadium and have been ever since the Toffees fell into the drop zone.
They understand that now more than ever the team need their support and the send off the players received as they left for Leicester at Finch Farm was amazing – long may it continue.
