Alan Stubbs lost for words after Everton win v Leicester

Alan Stubbs was lost for words after Everton won 2-1 against Leicester City on Sunday (8 May) away from home.

Once again, the Toffees fans played a huge role as they lifted a broken team to rise up to the challenge as the Toffees move out of the drop zone.

Stubbs has hailed the fans as “unbelievable”, and mentioned Jordan Pickford as the stand-out player after a massive win.

Stubbs wrote on Twitter: “What a result, Everton. Massive win and great weekend all around with results going our way.

“Jordan Pickford.”

In another tweet, Stubbs added: “How good were the Everton fans today. Fantastic support again, unbelievable.”

Pickford – a true hero

Everton have now moved ahead of both Burnley and Leeds United, and they are in control of their own destiny.

With four games left to play, they have a good chance now to open the gap with the teams at the bottom, having played a game less.

Vitaliy Mykolenko scored from a stunning volley while Mason Holgate banged in a header to earn a precious three-point away from home.

However, Everton would not have been in this position, had it been not for Jordan Pickford. He was unreal. Simply unreal.

The England shot-stopper produced arguably the save of the season against Chelsea in the previous game, and he denied Nampalys Mendy and Harvey Barnes with incredible saves to protect his side’s narrow lead.

What is more left to say about the fans? Football without fans is nothing, and Everton fans have shown why they are being regarded as one of the best in the country.

Frank Lampard’s biggest achievement has been to unite the fan base, and we’re gradually witnessing the effect on the pitch.

In other Everton news, one pundit was stunned by what he saw an “unbelievable” Toffee do at the King Power.
