Alex Iwobi responds to hilarious banner in Everton away end at Leicester

Alex Iwobi has responded to a hilarious banner spotted in the Everton away at the King Power Stadium during Sunday [May 8] afternoon’s victory.

Frank Lampard’s side took a massive step towards safety with a 2-1 win over Leicester City thanks to goals from Vitalii Mykolenko and Mason Holgate.

One man who has enjoyed a turnaround in form of late is former Arsenal ace, Iwobi, and the fans have rewarded him with his very own banner.

After the win, the winger took to Twitter to say: “Three points in the bag.”

Unexpected.

If you asked Everton fans who they thought would emerge as a fan favourite under Lampard, Iwobi would most likely be quite far down the list.

The Nigeria international looked to be yet another example of the Blues buying washed up players for extortionate prices from Premier League rivals who were happy to get rid of them.

We mustn’t get ahead of ourselves but in the last few weeks that certainly hasn’t been the case.

The forward has been excellent of late – putting in several key performances when the team need him most and much like he did yesterday.

Lampard’s man-management is second to none because he has several flops looking like stars in this side and hopefully, they can maintain that form not only to ensure Premier League survival but beyond.

The former Chelsea boss switching Iwobi to a wing-back role was a shock but has paid off ten times over with impressive displays and two wins in those games.

With only for goal involvements in the league all season, maybe he wasn’t a winger after all.

The players need to remain focused and not get complacent though because the job is far from over with Burnley and Leeds undoubtedly fighting right until the end.

In other Everton news, Martin Keown says that Everton must respond to a “tremendous body blow” in their “phenomenal” relegation war.
