Anwar El Ghazi should leave Everton early after offering nothing to relegation battle

Everton had a busy January transfer window, but while Dele Alli picks up plenty of flack for his transfer everyone seems to have forgotten Anwar El Ghazi.

The Dutch winger joined the club on loan for the rest of the season after falling out of favour under Steven Gerrard at Villa Park, with Rafa Benitez looking to bolster his attacking options.

However just days later the Spaniard was sacked and El Ghazi’s transfer looked even more peculiar, as it became apparent that he was brought in by Farhad Moshiri due to his relationship with super-agent Kia Joorabchian.

Since the arrival of Frank Lampard at the club, the winger has been completely isolated from the squad at Goodison Park.

Despite being fit and available almost all the time, the 27-year-old has featured for just 11 minutes in a blue shirt this season. As of this writing, he hasn’t featured at all since coming on in stoppage time during the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City back in February.

Over the last ten games, he’s only even been named on the bench in five of them and hasn’t come on the pitch at all. There is simply no point in him being at the club.

This is all in addition to the fact that Andros Townsend was ruled out for the rest of the season back in March with a cruciate knee ligament injury, and yet there is still no space for him.

Anthony Gordon is a regular on the right wing, while Demarai Gray and Richarlison take up their spot on the left. Then Alex Iwobi is an option, while Dele and Donny Van de Beek have been used in attacking midfield positions too.

Even Salomon Rondon has become a more integral part in the absence of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, despite his woeful record in the Premier League.

It was a deal made with no thought process and no reason. The club didn’t need to strengthen their forward department, especially out wide, when he was brought in.

The club should just let him return to Aston Villa now. He has nothing to offer, hasn’t earned the trust of the manager and he wouldn’t be missed if left early.
