Everton-linked striker Reyes Cleary quits West Brom amid Goodison speculation

Reyes Cleary has decided to quit West Brom amid reported interest from Everton, according to the Express & Star.

The Daily Mail reported on 8 March that Everton, Arsenal, Newcastle and Bayern Munich are all in the hunt to sign the 18-year-old striker, who’s been in sensational form in the Black Country this season.

Cleary’s deal at The Hawthorns expires in the summer and the Express & Star now reports that the young centre-forward has rejected a new contract.

That claim is backed up by Cleary sharing a post on his Instagram account on 10 May that seems to strongly suggest that he’s saying goodbye to the Baggies.

Get him in

While West Brom will be due a compensation fee for Cleary, the young striker could be an absolute bargain for Everton considering the understandable hype surrounding him this season.

Cleary has been in insane form for West Brom’s youth sides, which has raised questions about why he’s played just once for the senior team.

Everton

In 15 Premier League 2 appearances for the Under-23s, Cleary scored seven goals and in his 11 Under-18 Premier League outings, he’d netted 13 times.

He also scored against Tottenham’s Under-18s in the FA Youth Cup and helped the Baggies reach the Premier League Cup final, which takes place later this week against Wolves at The Hawthorns.

Interest from Bayern says a lot about this talented youngster and that might mean it will be hard for the Toffees to swoop in and seal a deal.

However, it’ll be nice to at least see the club try now that their Premier League status is getting closer to being confirmed.

Cleary could be someone who finds himself on the verge of our first team.
