Michael Owen predicts result of Everton clash v Watford
Michael Owen believes the win over Leicester was ‘season-defining’ for Everton as they prepare for a massive clash against Watford this week in the Premier League.
The Toffees climbed out of the relegation zone thanks to a huge 2-1 win at the King Power Stadium on Sunday [May 8], their first win on the road since August against Brighton.
They now travel to take on Watford in their game in hand over their rivals to try and move four points clear of Burnley and Leeds at the bottom, and Owen told BetVictor that he anticipates a 2-1 win for Frank Lampard’s side.
“Now Watford are officially down, they find themselves in the same position as Norwich,” he said. “They’ve got a huge squad, so they will probably rotate the team and give some younger players a run out.
“For Everton, the win over Chelsea a couple of weeks ago was massive, but Sunday’s at Leicester was even bigger. They’ve had so many issues on the road, so to go and win there felt like a season-defining win.
“I can’t look past Everton in this. They’ve got so much more to play for, and a win would put them on the verge of staying up.”

This game is absolutely huge and could literally be the difference between relegation and survival for the blues.
Lampard got his team to overcome a huge obstacle by addressing their away form and claiming a win, and his reward is to now face a side who have lost their last 11 games in a row at home.
That should be all the encouragement they need to be able to pick up three more points on the road and create a gap heading into the final three games of the season.
While Watford are already relegated, they will want to give their fans something positive to close the season on and Everton can’t be complacent going into the game.
If they play to their best and put in a performance similar to what they have been doing in recent weeks then they should be confident of getting a result and boosting their survival chances massively.
