Rio Ferdinand shares ‘crazy’ behind-the-scenes secrets he’s been told about Everton
Rio Ferdinand says he has heard ‘crazy’ things about what is going on at Everton in their battle for survival after they claimed a 2-1 win against Leicester.
Frank Lampard’s side climbed out of the relegation zone thanks to goals from Vitalii Mykolenko and Mason Holgate to get their first win on the road since August, and move one point clear of Burnley and Leeds with a game in hand.
Now speaking on his Vibe with Five podcast, Ferdinand shared that while he mentors some of the younger players at the club he has heard a lot of stuff about what is happening behind the scenes at Finch Farm.
“It’s crazy. Some of the stuff you hear behind the scenes at Everton, I mentor a couple of players there so I’m hearing a lot of stuff.
“The effort that’s going in behind the scenes with the players, the management, the coaching staff, Frank Lampard, I mean if they get out of this situation, the togetherness that will be built through these type of moments when there’s a bit of downturn at the club, it could be the catalyst for a real good moment at the club if they get out of this situation.”

These are the types of statements and leaks we like to hear about the club, not the stuff about unrest and arguments that have been so frequent over the years.
From that statement alone it sounds as though Lampard has got everyone singing from the same hymn sheet at the club and they are all pulling in the same direction.
After some poor form, the club have been able to find light at the end of the tunnel and now have destiny in their own hands. The game against Watford in midweek will be a massive opportunity to create distance between themselves and their rivals.
While the club continue to be in a battle they can’t lose focus and must keep pushing ahead with their plans, with the same hunger and desire to survive.
But so long as they keep doing whatever it is that Ferdinand has heard about, they’re doing something right, so more power to them.
