Everton news: Jim White baffled by Simon Jordan rant about Frank Lampard live on-air
Jim White was left baffled by Simon Jordan after the talkSPORT host ranted about not being impressed by Frank Lampard’s work at Everton.
Despite a rocky start at Goodison Park, Lampard has managed to drag the Blues out of the relegation zone and now has them close to confirming their Premier League status for next season.
Jordan says he isn’t a fan of what Lampard has done so far on Merseyside and suggests he feels like Steven Gerrard has done a better job at Aston Villa.

As shown in a video clip on the talkSPORT Twitter account on Wednesday (11 May), Jordan said: “I don’t want to go for [him but] I’m not enamoured with Lampard’s contribution there.”
White was clearly baffled by the former Crystal Palace owner’s remark and asked: “Why? Why?”
Jordan said: “Because I just don’t think he’s set the heather alight.”
After that, White butted in and pointed out that “it wasn’t a given that he would”.
Jordan replied: “Well that’s what he was brought in to do. He was brought in for a bounce.
“They didn’t have a bounce, they just were worse for a period of time.
“Now, they’ve gotten out of it and they’ve gotten away with it this time.
“What’s going to be interesting is what they do next year because they’ve got no more money to spend, they’ve got the same restrictions upon them.
“We’re going to see if Frank Lampard is a Premier League manager because there’s all this talk – me included – about Lampard and the unfairness of the treatment of Chelsea and how I thought he had the calibre to be a football manager.
“I’ve become more impressed with Steven Gerrard in the last six months and less impressed with Lampard.”
Shut it, Jordan
If Everton avoid relegation, Lampard has done his job.
Yes, it has taken him a while to get a tune out of these players, who also deserve a lot of credit for the way they’ve performed in the last few weeks.
However, Lampard does have this squad of players shining, winning games and out of the Premier League’s bottom three.
Everton play the first of their final four games of the season on Wednesday night (11 May) when they take on already-relegated Watford at Vicarage Road.
Leeds, on the other hand, play third-placed Chelsea at Elland Road.
You’d assume that if Leeds lose that and Everton win against Watford – which is a very likely outcome of Wednesday night’s action – that safety should be all but assured.
Everton’s final three games are then against Brentford, Crystal Palace and Arsenal.
It remains to be seen if Arsenal will have a top-four spot sealed by then but if they do, you can imagine that they’ll be a bit more relaxed and potentially more beatable.
It’s all looking rosy for the Toffees right now.
And Lampard has played a big role in that.
