Ashley Williams stunned by 'unbelievable' Richarlison moment in Everton 0-0 v Watford

Ashley Williams was blown away by Ben Foster’s save to deny Richarlison scoring on Wednesday night (11 May) as Everton were held to a 0-0 draw away at Watford.

Everton’s winning run came to an end at Vicarage Road but Frank Lampard and his men are likely to still see the draw as them earning a valuable point in their bid to avoid relegation.

However, there were opportunities for the Blues to take the lead and win the game but Watford goalkeeper Foster was on hand to deny Richarlison in the second half with a top-drawer save.

“They had two cracking chances,” said Williams on Match of the Day on 11 May, as shown on BBC iPlayer.

“That’s an unbelievable save from Ben Foster there.

“It does take a deflection so he sees it really late but [he makes] his reaction save to keep out Richarlison.”

One of those nights

That was a hard-earned point for Everton, in all honesty.

While many of us would have expected to beat a side that’s already relegated, it was still one of those games where it was tough to break down the Watford defence as they definitely tightened things up.

It’s not a shock really – they have nothing to play for now except pride.

And losing to a team that’s been dreadful on the road this season would have been a big sucker punch for the Hornets.

Richarlison came so close to scoring against his former club but veteran goalkeeper Foster is always capable of making stunning saves like that.

The Brazilian has been in great form and on another day, you can be sure that his shot would have hit the back of the net.

We just have to hold our hands up and say that we weren’t clinical enough and that Watford also did enough themselves to earn their pointless point.

Still, it’s a point that should help Everton out in their bid to avoid relegation so we don’t have too many complaints.

It just would have been nice to win (and for Richarlison to bag some more points for our Fantasy Premier League teams).
