View: Everton will love what Chelsea fans sang to Leeds in last night’s win

Everton and Frank Lampard in particular will love what the Chelsea fans sang to Leeds fans at Elland Road during the west Londoners victory on Wednesday [May 11].

The Blues were handed a major boost in their fight for Premier League as Thomas Tuchel’s side beat their relegation rivals 3-0.

Yet another red card, this time from Dan James, saw the Whites struggle at home whilst the Toffees added yet another away point to this season’s tally with a draw at Watford.

Yesterday’s results now put the Merseysiders two points clear of Burnley and Leeds in 16th with just three games remaining.

With Chelsea seemingly home and dry – they taunted the Whites fans with chants of “super Frank Lampard” the song they once sang when he was a player and manager at Stamford Bridge.

Of course, he has no relation to the club now with all of his priorities with Everton but with the Blues now likely to avoid relegation thanks to the Chelsea legend as Leeds struggle – they took a swipe.

Fight.

Things are looking up but this is far from over. With three games to play all it takes is one round of results to go in Leeds and Burnley’s favour for the Toffees to be back in the relegation zone.

The players simply can’t afford to let their focus slip for one second. It was quite disappointing to draw against Watford yesterday.

Roy Hodgson’s side have been awful at home all season and with them being already relegated and having nothing to fight for – Everton really should have taken all three points.

A draw is much better than a loss which has been far too common away from home this season and it gives Lampard’s side a little bit more breathing space.

The next two games will decide it for the Blues and they are very winnable. Beat Brentford at home and Crystal Palace away and their Premier League status will undoubtedly be restored for next season.

That is crucial ahead of Arsenal away on the last day of the season as they push for the Champions League.

In other Everton news, Martin Keown says that Everton must respond to a “tremendous body blow” in their “phenomenal” relegation war.
