Everton injury update v Brentford: Fabian Delph out as Donny van de Beek update shared

Everton boss Frank Lampard has confirmed Fabian Delph will miss the home fixture against Brentford and that two other injured players could return.

Delph was substituted in the 81st minute during the Toffees’ goalless draw at Watford.

Lampard also suggested that Ben Godfrey and Donny van de Beek are “close” to being back to full fitness.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Everton’s youtube Channel Lampard said: “Fabian is out of the Brentford match.

“Whether he is out for the season I don’t know.

“Ben Godfrey could possibly feature and Donny van de Beek is close but whether they’ll feature I don’t know.”

Home games crucial

Lampard has got to focus on the two home matches against Brentford and Crystal Palace in Everton’s relegation fight.

Arsenal’s defeat to Tottenham on Thursday [12 May] means that the Gunners will almost certainly have something to play for on the final day.

Despite their defeat to Spurs, Arsenal are still an excellent side and will provide a tough test for Everton if they cannot secure their fate before the trip to the capital.

Brentford and Palace have both enjoyed good seasons and will be looking to finish their respective campaigns on a high.

When teams have very little to play for it can sometimes see them play with more freedom and be more dangerous.

With Everton’s recent performances against Manchester United and Chelsea at home, there is plenty of encouragement for the Toffees to take into these two matches.

It is crucial they maintain the same level of performance against the lesser sides with a win against the Bees putting the Toffees in a commanding position.

In other Everton news, Martin Keown says that Everton must respond to a “tremendous body blow” in their “phenomenal” relegation war.
