Abdoulaye Doucoure rages at Ivan Toney after incident in Everton loss v Brentford
Everton missed the chance to secure their Premier League safety on Sunday (15 May) after they were beaten 3-2 by Brentford at Goodison Park.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison both scored for the Toffees but an own goal from Seamus Coleman alongside Yoane Wissa and Rico Henry strikes meant the Bees went home with all three points.
Frank Lampard still has the chance to lead Everton to safety as they hold the initiative in their own hands still but things haven’t been made any easier with the defeat.

One of the lesser-seen moments on Sunday though saw Toffees midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure lose his rag with Brentford striker Ivan Toney after he failed to kick the ball out for an injured player [Liverpool Echo].
The spat between the two then attracted other players from both sides but it was quickly diffused and the game got back underway without any interference from the referee.
Rattled
For a player of Doucoure’s experience, you would expect he wouldn’t lose his composure so easily over something so minor and the fact he did could be a big worry for Lampard.
The Malian international has the ability to be a big threat to the opposition and his work rate and determination is often unrivalled by his opposite number but when he does things like this, it really taints his overall talent.

Having said that, he is still crucial to our survival hopes having been such a solid performer in our midfield all season long, and in seasons prior, so he can’t afford to go around getting involved in situations he doesn’t need to.
Lampard needs to get him into his office and just calm him down a touch because soon enough he could snap completely and that will only result in a red card and Everton up against it at a time when they need all the help they can get.
