Frank Lampard highlights reason behind Everton’s defeat against Brentford
Everton manager Frank Lampard has highlighted missed chances as one of the primary reasons for his team’s defeat against Brentford on Sunday.
Talking after the match as quoted by the Liverpool Echo, the Toffees’ manager hailed the players’ effort going a man down but rued the lack of clinical finishing.
“It was a great effort, an outstanding effort,” he said. “We were brilliant for the period of 11 v 11 — it felt like a game we controlled and more goals would maybe come.

“We should have scored more against a really good side. It is really hard to say anything to them [players] after that. Seventy minutes in the Premier League with one man down is a really big ask.”

Leaving it late
Everton are once again back in the thick of things after another poor result, this time while playing at the Goodison Park.
The Toffees were just 45 minutes away from securing safety on Sunday where despite being reduced to 10 men against the Bees, they went into the half-time with a 2-1 lead.
However, two quick goals inside the three minutes during the second half from winger Yoane Wissa and defender Rico Henry changed the complexion of the match as the visitors clinched an impressive win away from home.
That result leave the Liverpool-based club in the 16th position in the league table, just two points ahead of 18th-placed Burnley with two more matchdays to go.
Everton fans and the top-tier management will now be hoping that Lampard and his players will get the job done in the next fixture against Crystal Palace on May 19 as their final game of the season will be a tough one against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
