Andy Townsend makes ‘crazy’ Everton relegation prediction

TalkSPORT pundit Andy Townsend has tipped Everton to avoid relegation from the Premier League amid their potential Championship crisis.

The Blues [36] sit two points above Burnley [34] having played the same amount of games and one point above Leeds United [35] who have played one more game than the pair.

On a “crazy” day where anything can happen, Townsend tipped Jesse Marsch’s side to drop down as the three teams fight right until the end of the season.

He said, as per talkSPORT: “The last day of the season, I mean, anything can happen.

“Literally, anything could happen and it could go crazy and there are going to be moments where fans in one game – that fans are hearing that all of a sudden their rivals have scored and it’s going to be one of those sorts of days.

“It always is when you go into the final day with plenty at stake and three teams still involved.

“I, like you [Andy Goldstein], don’t think Everton will go down, I don’t they will go down.

“My biggest worry is for Leeds, that is my biggest worry. If I was a Leeds fan today – even though they are sitting a point above Burnley I would probably worry more so for them than anyone one else.

“Purely at the fact that Burnley has a couple of bites at it to get some more points.”

Not over.

If only Frank Lampard’s side won against Brentford on the weekend which they would have if it weren’t for Michael Oliver.

The Blues were by far the much better team – going 1-0 up inside ten minutes – but a catalogue of errors including two red cards dealt them a massive blow as they lost 3-2.

If they had won, the Toffees would have been mathematically safe by now and wouldn’t be a part of this tedious conversation anymore.

Based on their current form as well as the table – they will undoubtedly avoid relegation.

They are playing by far the best out of the three teams that are left fighting whilst leading the way in the table.

Should the unlikely happen and they do get relegated, it will be one of the biggest capitulations in their entire history.

The Merseysiders just have to keep on fighting and showing the excellent spirit they have over the last month or so in these last couple of games and they will be fine.
